Support women’s cycling!
I’ve talked before about how I feel guilty that we don’t talk more about women’s cycling on the podcast. I’ve now found a way to alleviate that guilt. And if you feel that same guilt, I can help.
The Unofficial, Unsanctioned Women’s UCI Cycling Blog/Show is sponsoring a Social Media Jersey to give to someone in the pro women’s peloton. Social media is a huge part of women’s cycling, as it is up to them to promote themselves and their sport. Sarah and Dan want to acknowledge this contribution to the cycling world and give a little back to show those women how much we appreciate their work by creating a “jersey” funded by fan contributions. Basically, women who create social media content around a couple of races happening now are nominated by fans, and the “jersey” (a t-shirt) and the prize money will go to the winning cyclist.
We at the Pelotonitis Podcast have teamed up to give a donation to the jersey and we think you should too! Go to their donation site and donate what you can- even $5 let’s female cyclists know you care!
There are only 11 days left to give, and they’re at $1,805. I think it is entirely possible to reach $2,000 by the deadline.
Women race for peanuts and with little, to no, recognition. Help show them we appreciate all cyclists!
