Episode 97: Fear the Beard

Apparently Jeff doesn’t approve of beards in the peloton. Besides that, we discuss all the racing fun of the last few weeks, including Tour of Flanders, Milan-Sanremo, E3 Harelbeke, and Gent-Wevelgem- plus, we talk about all of our favorites of the season so far!

Episode 96: Back from the Dead

We’re baaaack! Anna is sad Contador is leaving, Boonen is OUT, what will become of MPCC, now that Lampre is out? We talk about all the fun of  Omloop, KBK, Strade Bianche and Paris Nice. Jeff comes up with another name for those one week races: mini Grand Tours. He also tries out his Lance Armstrong/Clint Eastwood voice. Kat makes an appearance.

Episode 49: Pony Learns a New Trick!

Paris-Roubaix. The Queen of the Cobbles certainly delivered this year. Jeff has major hangups about RadioShack and wish they would just go away. Anna confesses she had NO idea what was actually happening during the race and we both love that Fabian is continuing to grow as a racer. Jeff also tries to convince Anna to name her cat Zdenek.

  • We bemoan OmegaPharam’s and Stybar’s bad luck [VeloNation]
  • Roubaix wrap-up from Joe Lindsey [Boulder Report]
  • Paris-Roubaix analysis by Edward Pickering [Cycle Sport]
  • Paris-Roubaix talking points by Edward Pickering [Cycle Sport]
  • Winning Moment at Paris-Roubaix [Inner Ring]
  • How The Race Was Won (now with synth!) [Cyclocosm]

Audio is a little wonky- still trying to deal with new technology!

Episode 41: Lance Attack!

As much as we would like to, we can’t not talk about Lance this week. Marianne and Anna decide Jeff’s plan is to be “travelling” whenever there might be a Lance episode. We dissect the #Doprah interview, ponder how rider’s personality reflect their culture, Anna rants about 1 week races, and we also find time to talk about actual bike racing going on now!

  • Poll: Interview didn’t help Lance! [VeloNation]

Episode 25: A Guest to Freshen Things Up

This week I am joined by a guest host in my very own time zone, Marianne! Don’t worry, Jeff is still my bestest co-host and will be back before long. Marianne is here to help me breath some new life into the tired topic of Lance. But first, we must find out who her peloton crushes are. [Note: Apologies to those of you using headphones, but Marianne’s side was only recorded in mono. Our bad!]

NEWS!

  • Liquigas acquires new management (article)
  • George Hincapie retires

LANCE!

  • We agree with Chrisophe Bassons and Frankie Andreau when they say Armstrong needs control.
  • We discuss the lack of comment from riders and the non-response response from some (Hushovd, Geraint). Inner Ring has thoughts on why riders don’t comment. And when riders do comment, but not the way we want them to, we get upset (Hayden Roulston)
  • Great article by Science of Sport about the case- the potential fallout and issues often brought up about the case.
  • Just because Lance won’t go to arbitration, doesn’t mean the evidence won’t come out (article)

RACING!

  • We discuss who we think has the best chance at winning, John Degenkolb’s dimples, how Valverde’s stage 8 win seemed like a bike F-U, Bert acting strangely, and Froome showing vulnerability.
